Hey pals,

You might have noticed that I’ve been off socials for a while now. I took a two-week break from Instagram this summer that turned into an almost-three month hiatus from the internet.
I took time to finish some small projects around the house and finally unpacked the last box from moving last May. I took up basket-weaving and did a few flower drying projects.

Mostly, I tried to relax and get to a point where I don’t feel like I’m completely behind in everything and one thing I let go of to do that was sewing and social media.
I didn’t realize just how burnt out I was (or quite how long) until I turned on the radio the other day while making dinner. I can’t remember the last time I felt chill enough after working all day to put on extra stimulation while making dinner. It was a bit of a surprise indicator to me that I’d recovered enough from my burnout that making dinner no longer overwhelmed me.

I’m also feeling inspired to sew again for the first time in a while. I made a few things over the summer, but nothing I was super excited about. I recently started playing around with AI to help get me figure out what to wear in the morning (that’s a post coming soon) and it made me discover a few pieces I’d like to add to my wardrobe this fall.

After my prolonged absence from Instagram this summer, I’m going to take a new tack with social media in the next bit and try posting more on here and less on Instagram as I’m kind of over trying to beat the algorithm. I also remembered how much I love writing and Instagram just isn’t the place for that.
Thanks for being here!

Welcome back! 🙂
So good to see you Sam x
