Hello, dear friends! I’ve been away a while, busily working to re-work this site to better represent what I’m all about. I hadn’t updated much since before my kids were born, so it felt like time.

Many, many things have changed in my life since I started this blog in 2012, but one thing has stayed the same: I am still curious about couture. I might wear knits more often than not, but my goal is always to continue to learn new techniques to make my clothes far better than the garments I can buy in store. For me, this means clothes that fit my body, beautifully finished, in fabrics and colours that I love.

I’m not going to pretend that I am an expert – because I definitely am not – but I am an educator, which means I love to learn and love to teach. A lot of this blog is about me trying things and making all the mistakes so you don’t have to. I like sharing what I’ve learned because it helps me to synthesize newly acquired knowledge and skills, but I also figure there might be someone else out there asking the same questions I am.

Over the past two months, I’ve revamped the look of this site to reflect how my style has changed since the beginning, but I’ve also worked hard to re-organize my pages to make it easier to find the things you seem to be most interested in. I’ve created pages of links to old posts on maternity and post partum sewing, pattern hacks, sewing for kids, and wardrobe planning.

Moving forward, you’re going to see a lot of the same types of posts (finished garments, pattern hacks, etc.), but I’m also taking your feedback and posting more about the stuff I sew for my kids and am going to try putting together more tutorials. I’m pretty excited about my new site and I hope you are, too. As always, thanks for sticking through my sometimes stream-of-consciousness essays and always, always ask if you have a question!
